How to Care for Your Skin During Seasonal Allergies

Summer feels great — unless your skin says otherwise.
When the air fills with pollen, many people start to feel it — not just in their nose or eyes, but on their skin too.
Dryness. Redness. Itching. Flare-ups that come out of nowhere.
Here’s how to help your skin stay calm during allergy season.

1. Don’t scratch

We know it’s tempting. But scratching only brings momentary relief — and may damage your skin or even introduce infection.
Instead, press a clean, dry palm gently onto the itchy spot, hold for a few seconds, and release. This sends a signal to the skin to calm down — without harm.

2. Simplify your skincare

During allergy flare-ups, treat your skin as sensitive — even if it’s usually not.
Switch to fragrance-free, dye-free formulas. Look for simple, gentle ingredients. This is not the time for elaborate actives or 10-step routines.

3. Avoid actives

If your skin is dry, flaky or inflamed, put your retinol and exfoliating acids on pause.
They’re powerful — but too much for stressed-out skin. Bring them back when your skin feels balanced again.

4. Be mindful with makeup

We get it — you want to cover up redness or irritation. But be gentle.
Avoid makeup brushes (they can collect pollen and dust), and use clean fingers instead. It’s more hygienic — and kinder to your skin.
